For our first trip in Poland we went by train to Malbork. From Warsaw you can take the PKP Express Intercity Premium (EIP) train - ED250 Pendolino, which travels at up to 200 km/h on the Warsaw - Gdańsk line. Tickets (up to 6 paying or not-paying passengers per ticket) can be bought in the KOLEO or PKP Intercity apps/websites. Koleo has more detailed and more to scale seat maps. Both apps have issues - make sure to check that the seats you selected show up in the summary right before paying. If you need to cancel, you get 85% back. If you buy early enough, you can get heavily discounted tickets (50% or more). If you are travelling with children under 6 look for special compartments - they don't cost more, but you get extra privacy and space. In a Pendolino they are 4 seat, in other Intercity trains, they are 6 seat.
